Hello, World!

I am a wellness facilitator, mindset coach, movement artist & educator in the DC metropolitan area empowering people through various modalities.

It is my mission to create welcoming spaces for folks to be their most authentic self, to express themselves, and to be comfortable and confident in their body, mind, and spirit.

Through the practices of coaching, mindfulness, positive psychology, and movement, each experience is crafted and curated with you in mind.

Classes with Lauren DeVera rekindled my love for dance. I was in a creative box before learning from her. Lauren has inspired and encouraged me to move my body in new, unfamiliar ways, introducing me to movement that stays true to the purpose of art: expressing the spirit! No studio, or YouTube video I had learned from offered this connection to self like her classes. Her style of teaching is intuitive and her presence is uplifting. Taking class with Lauren has been like finding a spring of fresh water in the desert.

wellness philosophy

Wellness should be accessible, affordable, and inclusive to all. Having a physically healthy body doesn't indicate wellness. Your goal is to cultivate a flourishing life through proactive efforts toward self-care, self-compassion, and self-awareness. My goal is to lead you and give you the tools you need to achieve that.

As a mixed Filipina American, it's important for me to represent as a WOC within the wellness industry. I hope to provide a brave space, a familiar face, and a compassionate heart to those who seek it.

Whether you’re new to the wellness lifestyle, or returning to it, there’s something for everyone. You’re in good hands!

Lauren Devera
Bachelor of arts, RYT 200, CAPP, MSBR-T, CLC

In the words of a friend and colleague:

In 2010, Lauren received her Bachelor of Arts from the dance program at Old Dominion University. Since then, she has made incredible strides in her career as a performer, choreographer, and educator. She is a distinguished thought leader in the dance community with performance and teaching credits including the Kennedy Center, The Howard Theatre, Dance Place DC, Culture Shock DC (alumni), World of Dance, Carnival, BET, and The CW Network.

With a deep-rooted passion to bring people together, she began in 2010 as a leader, ambassador, and pioneer of KODACHROME VA, a community-based dance workshop series, by curating a selection of decorated teachers–locally and nationally. It was because of her infectiously warm personality and network, KODACHROME attendees of all experience levels kept coming back for more workshops. The quality of teachers Lauren hand-picked was an incredible need for the growing dance community. Later, she expanded her reach through the DMV chapter of Diggs Deeper by serving as the Production Manager between 2014-2017.

In March 2019, Lauren graduated from The Flourishing Center and is excited to integrate her work as a Positive Psychology Practitioner. In February 2020, Lauren received her certification in Mindfulness Stressed Based Reduction for teens/parents/educators.

Lauren is also the creator & founder of The Lion’s Den, a community-driven and operated organization dedicated to inclusion and positive wellness through dance/movement/fitness programming. She is a lover of movement, mindfulness, and helping others reach their fullest potential.

Come catch a class or book her for your next event at your studio, workplace, or school!

FOUNDER, THE Lion’s Den

The Lion’s Den is a community driven & operated organization dedicated to inclusion and creating spaces for people to freely express themselves. The Lion’s Den provides weekly dance classes, creative & educational events and opportunities to perform & serve throughout the DC Metropolitan area.

Being the youngest daughter of an immigrant blended family, I struggled with knowing my place in the world and feeling like I truly belonged. This sparked my passion to create a consistent experience where others could feel accepted and safe to authentically be themselves; where they could grow in their movement and mindset practice. Fusing my experience from growing up in church, the collegiate dance community, and recent mindfulness journey, I have been able to bring all the elements into one space. I have a passion for bringing people together and empowering them to live and move courageously!
